Visiting Momi Village

It was a very wet and bumpy ride across the ocean to get to the mainland.

Once we get to land we still have to take the boat through the mangroves to get to the village.

Walking through Momi village towards the community center...

The community center.

There was a small welcoming ceremony for us. We presented or gifts to the village and they thanked us for coming.

Blessing the kava

Starting the clinic.

Pounding the kava.

The walk across the street to the school.

The Momi school.

Upon arriving back to the village, the clinics were winding up and a kava ceremony was beginning.

After the kava  ceremony, the feed us snacks and we hung out for a few minutes.

While hanging out, this little girl in the pink top, Maggie, took a liking to me. First she was holding onto my leg while I was standing, then when I say down she was holding my hand. She was too shy to take a pic though. When another little girl tried to hold my hand Maggie took it from her and held it to her chest. She didn't want to let go when we had to leave.

Finally, out boat trip back was slow through the coastal area due to low tide, but it was a smoother dryer ride.
